MARSFIELD NSW:    On July 18, six Vincentian Priests of the Australian Province of the Congregation of the Mission  celebrated  50 years of Ordination to Priesthood. The six are Fr Bernard Scott CM, Fr Gerard Wilkinson CM, Fr Brian Jackson CM, Fr Rom Barry CM, Fr  Anthony Mannix CM and Fr Alan Finn CM.  Some 400 relatives, friends and parishioners of Marsfield and Ashfield, attended Mass at St Anthony's Church at Marsfield on Sunday July 19 to mark the occasion, where Bishop Colin Campbell, Bishop of Dunedin (New Zealand) was Principal Celebrant at the Eucharist and  Fr Greg Cooney CM (Provincial of the Vincentians) delivered the Homily.  Sadly, Fr Bernie Scott and Fr Gerard Wilkinson were unable to be present

Afterwards many gathered at Curzon Hall to  continue the celebration.    Fr Greg Cooney CM formally toasted the Jubilarians,  Sr Pauline Flynn DC spoke on behalf of the Daughters of Charity, and Fr Tony Mannix replied. Frs Alan Finn, Brian Jackson and Rom Barry also replied briefly.   Fr Gerry Scott spoke on behalf of his brother Bernard.    Bishop Colin Campbell thanked the Vincentians  for their work in New Zealand, and presented the  Jubilarians who had worked in New Zealand with some All Black mementos.

We congratulate the Jubilarians,  and thank them for the many years of ministry that that they have carried out in the Congregation of the MIssion.

The formal part of the function conducted at Curzon Hall, which is just opposite St Anthony's Church at Marsfield, took place in the Confrerence Room. Curzon Hall was formerly owned by the VIncentians, and known as St Joseph's Seminary.   It was in this Seminary that the Jubilarians spent their years of formation for Priesthood.   The Conference Room at Curzon Hall was originally the Chapel of the Seminary, and the ceiling is still a reminder of those times.   Form more details, visit the link  Medals.
